Meet Dr. Julie Motycka. In 1990, while working as a pharmaceutical chemist for Baxter Healthcare, and as a pharmacy tech for Walgreens, she decided she wanted to become a physician. “I applied and was accepted into medical school. I was 27 at the time.”
While she doesn’t come from a long line of doctors, Julie did have two maternal uncles who were family practitioners. “I chose the OB/GYN path because I wanted to help guide women through their reproductive lives – particularly pregnancy and childbirth.”
Dr. Motycka chose to practice at Beacon because she believes the culture is a good fit with her own philosophy. “I am my patient’s biggest advocate,” she says. “I always try to encourage them to stay positive and take things one step at a time. I want them to know that I really do care about them and their well-being.”
