After years working for larger firms, Charles M. Smith founded the C.M. Smith Agency from his home in 1974. More than twenty years later, long-time employees John O’Connell and Baxter Maffett purchased the small Glastonbury-based company with intentions of becoming Connecticut’s insurance marketplace leader. To better position the company, the Agency relocated to Hartford in 2014 and now employs more than 35 dedicated professionals.
